DARIEN | The McIntosh County school system accepted a $30,000 gift Friday from an energy company that wants to put a section of a controversial 210-mile pipeline through the county.
The give from Kinder Morgan will benefit athletic programs at McIntosh Academy, the county’s public high school. McIntosh School Superintendent John Barge said, “We’re really excited about this. It’s going to be a big help.”
The gift will go toward purchase of equipment and uniforms and to help fund travel to out-of town competitions.
